Missed the playoffs

Mariners fans spent the final weeks of the 50th-anniversary season mourning a historic flop, blaming Dan Wilson for squandering a soft September and a weak division. Elimination brought relief, Rick Rizzs' farewell brought tears, and the offseason opened with coaching firings and anger at owner John Stanton.
