USC

Big Ten · 2026 season

The story so far

USC fans spent the early weeks waiting for a real test, then turned on Lincoln Riley and the defense after a shaky Rutgers win and losses to Oregon and Wisconsin. The upset of Ohio State brought stunned joy, though many still expect the same old USC finish.

  • Early praise for Gary Patterson's unit collapsed after Rutgers scored 35 and Oregon kept scoring, with blown coverages persisting until a goal-line stand against Ohio State finally gave fans something loud to celebrate.

“There's a greater chance of seeing Mothman or Bigfoot than ever seeing USC get two safeties and a shutout game”
