What happened
Three road games, three beatings. The 7-2 loss in Carolina set the tone, and by the time New Jersey finished a 4-1 job the grievances had gone archival, with one fan calling Podkolzin for Kane "one of the most boneheaded trades" and another still cursing Benning for "taking Klimovich over Stankoven." The 6-2 finish in New York was mostly a goaltending autopsy: Lankinen's night, as noted, "actually improved" his GAA to under 7.00. Misery tripled in seven days. Someone admitted feeling nothing at all, which is arguably progress.
