What happened
The week opened kindly enough: a 3-2 win over Anaheim, greeted with "thank fucking god" and the weary addendum, "make it easy for once." It got harder. The turning point came against Los Angeles, where a whistle killed a late push and the Islanders lost 2-3, leaving fans fuming that "no fucking way Doughty got away with just flooring someone off the play." Then Dallas, 3-6, where they "played like dog ass." Misery climbed from 54 to 61, and the refs stopped being the problem.
