What happened
The week opened with Michael King carrying a no-hitter into the seventh of an 8-0 wipeout, then a 4-1 close-out that swept the Cubs and had the fanbase crowing that "Cubs? Busted. NLDS..... INBOUND!" Milwaukee answered. The turn came in that first one-run loss, 2-3, when the bats went quiet and someone suggested they "burn that stadium to the fucking ground." A 3-4 follow-up left San Diego down 0-2 and reaching for the word "choke artists." Euphoria has a short shelf life in October.
