What happened

Six games, three wins, 82-80, and elimination arriving right on schedule. St. Louis came and went — a 2-0 shutout, a 1-5 clunker, a 2-1 escape — but the week turned in Detroit, where a 7-8 loss took the math away for good. The 3-4 follow-up confirmed it, and Sunday's 4-2 win was a receipt. One fan called it "the most frustrating good season they've had," another admitted "I'm going to miss them." Both things are true at once.
