Two points short of Pittsburgh, and the room spent the night arguing with ACC replay instead of the offense.
The emotional rollercoaster
Virginia Tech fans’ misery during the game, every 15 minutes. Up is worse.
What happened
Four wins in, and Hokie fans had started to believe. Then Pittsburgh came to town and left with a 33-35 decision that will be relitigated for months. The turning point was the final interception, reviewed by an ACC replay booth that showed one angle before cutting away, prompting the Thursday night lament: "How the fuck do you show one replay and then go to Idaho?" Another suggested "whoever the refs were at ACC HQ on that last interception should all be fired." At 4-1, the misery is less about the loss than about never getting to see it properly.
