Led for 40 minutes, lost by 28: Commonwealth rocked right up until Alabama remembered it was Alabama.
The emotional rollercoaster
Kentucky fans’ misery during the game, every 15 minutes. Up is worse.
What happened
Kentucky hosted Alabama and, for a half, Commonwealth believed. Then the third quarter arrived and took everything with it, the turning point being less a single play than the slow realization that the lead was a loan, not a gift. Final: 17-45, dropping the Wildcats to 1-1. One fan marveled that "the fact that we led for 40 minutes but still lost by 28 is a wild stat," while another mourned "such a disappointing second half." Misery jumped from 15 to 57. Hope, it turns out, charges interest.
