W 45-13 vs Youngstown State · Sat, Sep 5 · 1-0 overall
Misery Index · Euphoric
Forty-five on Youngstown State, and Kentucky is already crowning Patterson an SEC back and the QB a savior.
What happened
Kentucky opened with a 45-13 win over Youngstown State, which is exactly the kind of result that tells a fanbase nothing and cheers it up anyway. The turning point was watching the quarterback operate without incident — "Like the best QB weve had in years. Calm. Composed. Smart. Accurate." — four adjectives Kentucky fans have not had occasion to use in a while. Patterson's work convinced the faithful he is "ready to be an SEC back." At 1-0, the schedule has not yet argued back.
