Misery Index · Miserable · = from 72
A win in Starkville, and Sooner fans still felt obliged to apologize to anyone who watched it.
The emotional rollercoaster
Oklahoma fans’ misery during the game, every 15 minutes. Up is worse.
What happened
Oklahoma won and nobody felt better for it. The 23-15 final at Mississippi State moved the Sooners to 4-3, which on paper is progress and in practice was three hours of penance. The turning point came early, when it became clear this would be a grind rather than a statement, and the fanbase settled in to suffer. "Terrible game, lame atmosphere, terrible broadcast. I hated it," one fan offered. Another apologized to strangers: "I'm truly sorry literally anyone has to watch this game." Misery crept up anyway, 72 to 75. A win is a win, apparently.
