What happened
California opened the season by hanging with UCLA for most of an evening, which turned out to be the cruelest option available. The turning point came in a pair of interceptions, back to back, after which the thing stopped being competitive and started being a formality. Fans watched the stadium empty around them and noted that "Tosh needs to man up and pull JKS," who looked hurt long before the final 45-24. At 0-1, Berkeley has eleven more Saturdays to fill.
