49ers fans letting themselves admit B.Purdy's 5-TD afternoon looked an awful lot like a quarterback worth keeping.
The emotional rollercoaster
Fan misery across the game window. Up is worse.
What happened
B.Purdy's five-touchdown afternoon — including strikes to D.Robinson and G.Kittle — finally gave this fanbase permission to exhale and admit the offense is, in fact, real. The J.Tonges fumble recovery on the opening kickoff set the tone, and Indianapolis never got the game close enough to make anyone clutch a couch cushion. The only lingering question: where has this version been hiding, and can it travel into January?
