What happened

A 5-4 win over Toronto made for a decent first NHL game for one fan's father-in-law, and Hayton's power play contribution had the room feeling generous. The turn came Thursday in Edmonton, a 4-2 road win that one fan called a "statement road performance against a very solid team that was unbeaten in regulation." Saturday's 2-6 rematch at home undid the goodwill, leaving fans timing referees and muttering about Jarry and Murphy. Even an Oilers fan conceded "you guys are such good fans." Small comfort.
