What happened
Opening night in Toronto ended 1-2, and the grumbling started early, one fan calling the deployment "not putting him in a place to succeed," which is the kind of thing people only say in October because there's nothing else to say yet. Then the home opener landed, 6-0 over New Jersey, and the mood flipped entirely: "Home Opener Shutout, what a way to start the season." Eklund scored on his birthday with his mom watching. Somebody did the math on the fourth line's combined age, 105 years, and laughed anyway. Two games in, playoff runs already exist.
