What happened

A 1-5 loss in Ottawa set the tone, and the officiating became the first scapegoat: "What the fuck are these no-calls on Ottawa and then phantom bullshit calls against the Panthers?" The turning point came the next night in Pittsburgh, where an 0-4 shutout confirmed it wasn't the refs, prompting the blunt verdict that the past two games were "absolute shit." One fan swore to "come back when Barky does." Another did the math on Gudas's remaining years. The 3-2 win in Chicago barely registered.
