What happened
Detroit opened in Edmonton with a 4-3 shootout win, Postava stopping Draisaitl and McDavid in his first start. That should have been the story. Instead, a 4-1 win over Chicago became a referendum on Larkin, with fans demanding he "stay in timeout" and that the team "quit letting Larkin lead the team onto the ice." A 4-5 loss to St. Louis brought calls to dump "Fraud Gibson." Two wins in three, misery down to 45, and the fanbase still spent the week hunting for someone to blame.
