The emotional rollercoaster
Fan misery across the week, every six hours. Up is worse. Dashed lines are games.
What happened
The week opened at its lowest, a 2-9 loss in Detroit that had one fan declaring DC sports at "a really really low point rn." Then the bullpen held a 3-1 win — "that's a save, boys, remember what that looks like" — and the mood turned. Four wins in six, a 7-6 thriller where Crews homered and Josiah closed, a 6-4 finale, and 77-85. Not last place, and somehow that counted as a reason to stay.
What fans said
“And what a fantastic performance to go out on too. 7 IP, 7 Ks, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB. That's our guy, man. Nationals, hear me out: replace Franny with him.”

“God DAMN that one felt good. Crews hitting a bomb to extend our lead enough that Josiah could close it out? Wipe me down.”

“I've met a lot of people in DC who named their kid Juan after Soto that's pretty cool.”

“but easily the happiest I've felt on the last day of the season any point in the 2020s.”

“Fuck yeah. Going into the season my most optimistic expectation was 75 wins. And here we are. Let’s get a few more and go into the offseason heads held high.”
