The emotional rollercoaster
Fan misery across the week, every six hours. Up is worse. Dashed lines are games.
Worst game: Wed, Sep 16, L 1-7 vs Baltimore Orioles
In-game fan misery, every 15 minutes.
What happened
Baltimore came in and took all three, and the 1-7 Wednesday drubbing was the hinge: that was when fans stopped asking for wins and started openly campaigning for lottery odds. Then 0-3 to Philadelphia, with Young's season ending in a shrug. Wins of 6-3 and 10-3 arrived anyway, sweetened by a grab-bag jersey and Howie Rose's goodbye, before 2-7 restored order. At 71-85, the broadcaster got the sendoff the roster couldn't earn.

“I guess it's because the forecast for tomorrow isn't great, which would rain out the final home game and Howie's last broadcast.”

“What a shitty way for his season to (presumably) end. Young has been one of the few bright spots of this season and deserves way more recognition.”

“This is the softest fucking team I’ve ever seen holy shit”
