What happened
Miami spent the week playing spoiler with real menace, taking two of three in Chicago behind an 8-2 laugher that prompted a cheerful "FUCK YOU AND GOODNIGHT CHICAGO," then losing 1-2 to the bullpen everyone had already indicted. The turn came at home: a 3-0 shutout, one walk and one hit from perfection, which drew more fury at a "hapless, gutless, hopeless manager" than joy. An 8-3 bullpen-game collapse, a 5-3 finish, 80-82, and a positive run differential for the first time in 16 years. Almost counts.
