What happened
A blown 8-7 opener in Arizona set the tone, then the Marlins stole two — 4-2, then 4-3 with Sandy closing, a bullpen call that briefly felt like imagination. San Diego ended that. The 8-2 Friday was the hinge: elimination arrived with a week still on the calendar, and 7-6 and 7-3 finished the job. Fans spent the weekend drafting career changes for Fairbanks, indicting Zuber and Bruce, and celebrating a Jupiter Hammerheads title instead. Under 90 losses still counts as hope down here.
