What happened
Six wins in seven, and the only crack came Wednesday in Cincinnati, when Blake Snell felt his groin grab in the pregame bullpen, lasted an inning, and the whole thing unspooled into a 6-2 loss. That was the turning point only in the sense that it scared nobody for long: 8-2 the next day, then 8-2, 10-4 and 3-1 over the Giants at home. Mookie carried the weekend. A magic number of one is a strange thing to sit on comfortably, but 96-60 buys that.
