What happened

Two wins in six, and 94-68 to show for it. The week opened with Ronald Acuña Jr. — Ronnie — "crumpled on the ground" in a 0-4 shutout, and the bats never really recovered; one fan warned the team "may not score another run this season." The turn came in Miami, a 0-3 blanking that had people muttering "if these games are tune-ups for the wild card round then we are absolutely hosed." Dominic Smith's homer in an 8-3 win bought one night of calm. Then 3-5, and quiet.
