Washington State went to Corvallis and lost 30-48, which dropped the Cougars to 1-6 and somehow counted as an improvement in mood, misery sliding from 80 to 46. The turning point wasn't a play so much as a personnel choice, the quarterback carousel spinning again, and the board noticed: "I never thought we would be dumber about QB1 than we were last year.
