What happened
UCF opened with a 73-6 win over Bethune-Cookman and still found something to chew on. The turning point wasn't a turning point so much as a blemish: Bethune-Cookman got on the board, prompting the observation that "it's not a Scott Frost team if they haven't given up at least one score." Elsewhere, fans squinted at the quarterback and decided KJ Jefferson "looked awful in his debut," throwing "absolute ducks against New Hampshire state." At 1-0, the misery is manageable, which is its own kind of warning.
