Three touchdowns wiped off the board, a fumble at midfield, and a fanbase certain the refs did it on purpose.
The emotional rollercoaster
Tennessee fans’ misery during the game, every 15 minutes. Up is worse.
What happened
Tennessee went to Columbia at 6-1 and left at 6-2, dropping a 27-24 decision that fans will be relitigating until spring practice. The turning point wasn't a single snap so much as a pattern: "three TDs wiped off the board," by one fan's count, each review peeling another layer off the collective nerve. One Vol noted the kinship with Georgia, both "getting upset 27-24 by dogshit teams with 0 playoff hopes after fumbling at midfield." Misery jumped from 14 to 96 in seven days. Shared suffering, apparently, doesn't divide.
