What happened
Kent State came to Columbia and left 57-0 lighter, which is roughly what everyone expected and somehow still felt cathartic. The turning point wasn't a play so much as the moment the scoreboard crossed into absurdity and the stadium realized nothing bad was going to happen today. One fan apologized to the visitors, "sorry you had to visit while hell was upon our doorstep." Another, 1-0 and already flinching, called hope "an absolute mother fucker as a Gamecock fan." Both are correct.
