A 13-34 faceplant at Northwestern has the room doing Big Ten math and landing squarely on zero wins.

What happened

Penn State went to Evanston and lost 13-34, a result that reads less like an upset than a diagnosis. The turning point was the whole thing: Northwestern, of all opponents, controlling a game the Nittany Lions were supposed to leave early. At 3-2, the fanbase has stopped arguing about playoff math and started doing darker arithmetic, as one fan put it, "We really about to go 0-9 in conference play huh?" Another could only marvel at "how far this program has fallen since 1 year ago." Twelve months, one lifetime.
