What happened

Notre Dame won 37-26 at North Carolina in the rain, moved to 5-0, and somehow the fanbase came out of it grumpier than it went in. The turning point wasn't a drive, it was the special teams unit, which one fan called possibly "the worst special teams performance in Freeman's tenure," a strange sentence to attach to a fifteenth straight double-digit win. Mostly, though, the complaint was broadcast-shaped: "another Saturday spent watching ads with a sprinkle of football in between." Undefeated and annoyed is a living.

  • “It’s probably a good sign all the fans are pissed about the 15th straight double digit win coming on the road in the pouring rain. Gotta be the worst special teams performance in Freeman’s tenure though right? So many big errors from a group that’s almost always a net positive.”
