What happened
Illinois came to East Lansing and left with a 37-38 escape, which is the kind of score that keeps a fanbase awake for reasons unrelated to sleep. Michigan State fell to 2-4. The turning point wasn't a snap so much as a review, the booth audio piped into everyone's living room, one fan noting that hearing the officials deliberate "makes it 100000% worse as you can now see firsthand just how incompetent they are." Another had called it early: "We are an absolute joke." Misery held at 97, which is less stability than exhaustion.
