What happened
Illinois beat Oregon 21-10 on Saturday and moved to 4-3, which in most places would be cause for celebration. Here, the turning point was less the result than the grim pregame math one fan laid out: "If we can't beat Oregon while Nike stock is in the toilet, then it's never happening." They did it anyway. The reward was a defensive autopsy, with one voice insisting "UAB was marching on us consistently. This defense is grade A garbage." Winning solves nothing, apparently. Only the schedule changes.
