Six and two, and Houston knows the drill by heart: the city finally shows up, the secondary doesn't.
The emotional rollercoaster
Houston fans’ misery during the game, every 15 minutes. Up is worse.
What happened
Houston went to Salt Lake City at 6-1 with a ranking to protect and left with a 21-13 loss and a 6-2 record. The turning point was the secondary, which one fan described in unprintable terms before adding that the crowd "played a huge factor." That combination — hostile noise, soft coverage — was enough. The lament that stuck wasn't about Utah at all: "it's almost like clockwork" that the Cougars pick the big moment to disappoint. Misery jumped from 10 to 80 in seven days.
What fans said
“This will certainly knock us out of the top 20. It’s almost like clockwork when the program has a chance to achieve something significant and the city gets behind them like they did against OK State they drop a turd like this.”
