What happened
J.Bates walks off a 42-yarder as time expires, which is the only reason this card doesn't read like a wake. Detroit nearly coughed it up when J.Goff's deep ball for A.St. Brown was picked by K.Byard at the CHI 5 with 2:23 left, before J.Williams and St. Brown clawed back into range. A win is a win against Chicago, but needing late-game heroics to escape a team playing for nothing is not the look a contender wears comfortably.
