Week 5 · 2026–27 season
Cowboys
L 16-24 vs Buccaneers · Oct 8, 2026
Misery Index · Despair
Cowboys fans are done pretending Jerry will fire anyone and have moved on to begging each other to stop buying tickets.
The emotional rollercoaster
Fan misery across the game window. Up is worse. ● biggest swings
What happened
Two D.Prescott interceptions on short middle throws — one to J.Ferguson, one to R.Flournoy — bookended a third quarter that also surrendered a 72-yard B.Irving run and a 64-yard T.Johnson catch. The defense cannot tackle, the quarterback is pressing, and the complaints bubbling up from the fanbase have stopped being about scheme and started being about ownership. Week 5 and the conversation is already about who should be fired. That is the problem.
What fans said
“The Cowboys will win just enough, not too much, but just enough throughout the season to keep the conversation going. Then when it matters the most, they will lose.”
