What happened

The Mammoth opened with a statement nobody in Utah quite trusted, a 6-0 shutout of Chicago that had the fanbase refreshing the box score for typos. Columbus fell 4-1 two nights later, and briefly the message boards allowed themselves optimism, which is always the tell. The turning point was the schedule itself: a third game in four nights, the back half of a road trip, ending 2-4 in New York. Two wins, one loss, and a fanbase already bracing for the version of this team it remembers.
