What happened
Three losses to open the week, each a slightly different flavor of close: 2-3 to Winnipeg, 3-5 in Washington, 2-3 in Columbus, where one fan insisted "Murashov is unreal. I can't believe how he kept us in that game." The officiating in D.C. drew the week's sharpest complaint about "phantom trips but not clear elbows." Then Friday's 2-1 shootout win over Dallas flipped everything, Crosby included — "Shootout win?? Crosby shoutout goal?!?!" A 1-3 week that somehow ended with people talking about a goalie tandem and a kitten.
