What happened

A four-game road trip opened with 2-5 in New York, then 2-3 to the Islanders, and the floor gave out in New Jersey at 1-4, where one fan told the coach to "do your fucking job" and another noted the goaltending "didn't even make a single save tonight." That Devils night was the turning point, hardening grumbling into arithmetic: "$31.5 million for a single 5 on 5 goal" from Leo and Cutter. The 5-4 win in Philadelphia doubled as therapy. A 1-3 week, and optimism now files under idk.
