What happened
Six games, six road games, and a fanbase that aged a decade. Two shutout wins — 3-0 in Washington, 3-0 in Queens — had people briefly believing again, right up until the Mets answered with 6-3 and then 10-3. That 10-3 was the break point; the timeline went from gallows jokes about Marsh, Bohm and Stott taking the blame for $800 million of underperformance to one guy simply praying for it to be over soon. Then Sunday's 7-2 arrived, magic number three, and everyone pretended the week never happened.
