Misery Index · Content
Washington won at Nebraska, griped about the offense anyway, and finally understood why Husker fans doom.
The emotional rollercoaster
Washington fans’ misery during the game, every 15 minutes. Up is worse.
What happened
Washington left Lincoln with a 17-10 win and a 5-3 record, yet the fanbase grumbled like the losing side. The offense drew the fire, from "This offensive line is offensive" to pleas to "throw the damn checkdown every once in a while." The turning point was a gift: a Nebraska defender in the neutral zone who, as one fan put it, "bailed us" out. The top post was an apology: "I'm sorry Nebraska fans. I get it now." Empathy comes easiest from the winning sideline.
