What happened
Mississippi State spent Halloween in Austin and came home with a 3-31 loss to Texas, a 4-4 record and a fanbase out of costumes for its grief. Sliding back to .500 was the week's turning point, pushing the misery index from 87 to 98 and making Jeff Lebby's job status the only topic left. One fan declared, "I am a river of misery and pain." Another reached for hope and stopped mid-sentence: "Maybe basketball can- Never mind." Even the escape hatch is locked.
