What happened

Ole Miss went to Nashville and won 52-17, which should have been a party, and instead became an exercise in self-diagnosis. The turning point came early, when the turnovers started stacking and one fan muttered that the team was "getting our season's allotment of TO's in this game" — the giveaways kept coming and the scoreboard stopped caring. At 4-1, the prevailing mood was invisibility: "when Ole Miss isn't doing absurdly well or dog shit terrible we usually don't even get mentioned." Thirty-five points, zero oxygen.
