Five points short at Cincinnati, and the room insists Avery's legs remain the offense's best-kept secret.

What happened

Kansas State went to Cincinnati and came home 3-1 after a 26-31 loss, and the autopsy started before the buses did. The turning point wasn't a play so much as a pattern: Avery declining to run, drive after drive, against a defense that had long since stopped pretending to care. One fan called it "the biggest waste of talent this school has seen in a very long time." Another noted his arm still plays, if anyone respected his legs. Misery climbed from 64 to 69. Talent isn't the problem, which somehow stings more.
