What happened
Illinois won at Michigan State 38-37 and the fanbase sounded like it had lost. The turning point wasn't a snap, it was the whistle: a sequence of calls so baffling that one fan said "the refs went full cirque-du-solei and put on a clown show," while another concluded that "the State of Michigan is where officiating goes to die" — this after the officials allegedly gifted Illinois the thing it wanted. Misery dipped from 83 to 70. At 3-3, apparently even winning comes with a grievance attached.
