What happened
Arizona State won at Kansas 24-17 and somehow left Lawrence grumpier than when it arrived. The scoreboard says 2-1. The fanbase says something closer to a dare: one fan called it "disgusting to watch, like beans on toast mushy peas disgusting," then suggested everyone agree to "never mention this game ever again." The turning point was less a play than a realization, arriving sometime mid-third quarter, that this was the offense now. Misery held at 56, which is its own verdict. Winning ugly still counts. It just doesn't comfort.
